Mr Shawky Mokhtar
Founder, El Shams
El Shams Dyehouse was set up by Mr Shawky Mokhtar, who has led fabric manufacturing in Egypt for 45 years. Under his direction, El Shams grew from a single dyehouse into one of the most recognised names for dyeing, finishing and printing in the Middle East.
The mill runs on a simple framework: quality, speed and a line that's always open to the customer's own criteria — plain dyed fabric for the everyday order, and new varieties developed when a buyer needs something the standard range doesn't cover yet.
Three disciplines, one line.
Most orders move through all three stages without leaving the building — which is where the lead-time and shade-consistency come from.
Dyeing
Plain dyed fabric across cotton, viscose, polyester and blends, run on a modern and varied machinery setup matched to the order in front of it.
- Plain dyeing to a customer-set shade
- Cotton, viscose, polyester & blends
- New varieties developed on request
Printing
Prep printing for textiles ahead of garment production, built around the pattern a buyer actually needs rather than only what's already on the floor.
- Pattern & ground printing
- Suited to garment-ready yardage
- Sampling before bulk commitment
Finishing
Finishing that gets cloth ready to cut and sew — stable, consistent, and checked off before it leaves the mill.
- Mechanical & chemical finishing
- Checked against customer spec
- Ready for ready-made garment production
Greige in, finished cloth out.
Six stages, one roll travelling through all of them. Every stage is logged against the order so a buyer can trace a fault back to where it happened.
Intake & inspection
Greige fabric is checked for weight, weave and shade consistency before it enters the line.
Pre-treatment
Scouring and bleaching prepare the cloth to take colour evenly across the full width.
Dyeing
Batch or continuous dyeing to the shade the customer has set and approved.
Printing
Pattern applied by rotary screen or digital pigment, where the order calls for it.
Finishing
Mechanical and chemical finishing for hand-feel, stability and performance.
QC & dispatch
Every roll is inspected, graded and packed to destination spec.
